Simply working on incorporating more red paintings into my portfolio. It was at one time the primary color used with the majority of my paintings. Once I realized it, I made a change towards more cool colors. I now have a portfolio with more paintings in the blue range.  

Time to swing the other way....

Another painting that I began at a workshop as a demonstration. It was rather intimidating being watched, but helpful to those who participated to be able to actually see the process begin. Not really enough time to follow through, so the painting was finished back in the studio.

Changes. It's perfectly ok to change. Embrace it. This painting began as a floral abstract painting demonstration for a workshop that I did for the Studio 55 Art Guild here in Springfield, Mo. It was a fun day for sure. Two of my paintings that were started there, went on to become finished works. This one changed ALOT, the other one which I will post later still shows those foundational marks. If it weren't for that beginning painting this one would never have become this painting. Can you see the seesaw?!

Ever spent time looking for something and then find that there it was right in front of you the whole time. Kinda what this painting was like for me.  I had spent so much time up close working on it that I just wasn't able t see it's beauty. About to give up, I drew lines in charcoal  with the intent to later come back and work it over.  Wow. There was no way I was going to do another thing to it. The vertical lines did it. It had been there all along. Melodious.

This painting has been one of my most popular paintings, if not most popular abstract on Etsy.  It was painted for a person who had an interest in the first painting that came out "Indian Summer"., 2009. Later there was a two panel commission, "Better Two" and then there was "Summer Splay" a 48" x 48" in 2013.

The paint is thickly applied with a palette knife on the canvas as colors are mixed and merged together. Beautiful!

Mixing more grays. Here I am painting with a much more neutral color palette intertwined with pops of color.  This one was painted after having done a series of floral abstracts using lots of bright colors. As I begun, I was thinking about several paintings I had done several years ago "Ablaze" and "Resonate" following a high horizontal composition.

As happens every Spring we begin to see colors of new growth. yay!! It's very exciting when you live in an area that loses most all of it's color during the winter months. Flowers seem to represent the emergence of color again, the best. So, along with that we see more artist painting florals this time of year....and I'm one of them! Happens every year!
