Enriched.....with earthy colors, RED, lots of surface texture and jewels. It reminds me of a Tuscany landscape with the sun's light shining through.  This painting was a process of many layers working with brushes, rollers, a scraper, a pizza cutter and a drain cover.  Who would ever know...now you do!

That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the Lord, and there is none else.  I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the Lord do all these things.  Isaiah 45: 6-7

Childlike....this painting looked totally different in it's beginning stages as it was begun by my 2 almost 3 grand-daughter. If you can imagine it, she had chosen three colors to paint with, pink, yellow and black.  Mostly black is what we ended up with...yes, I say we as I played along with her desire to paint on one of my good canvases. I knew that I could always paint over it....and besides isn't the first stroke the hardest...so why not let her make it!

As I played along side her, I watched and listened to her and was inspired  to paint once again like a child. No thought, no doubts, her arms swinging and paint splashing believing that she was an artist.

A few days later, I used what we had painted together as the foundation, the beginning of a new painting that just continued to grow layer upon layer with lots of color, movement and that childlike inspiration.

O Lord, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth! Your glory is higher than the heavens. You have taught children and infants to tell of your strength, silencing your enemies and all who oppose you.  Psalm 8: 1-2

Thankful.. for so much!  We are entering that season that I believe is a reminder to all of us of that which we have been blessed with.  Take time each day to give thanks to God.

I am painting with the feel of the changing seasons that are upon us here in Missouri.  With morning temperatures in the 50's  and afternoon temperature's in 90's, there is a bittersweetness in the air.  I love the change, but no, I am not ready for winter yet....so, until then I'll enjoy our Indian Summer ablaze with the warmth of summer!

Hello Fall!! .... well, at least here in Missouri we are feeling those  first signs of a new season.  The days are getting shorter, it is much cooler in the mornings, colors are changing, thoughts of fall family gatherings and the first Starbucks pumpkin spice latte! So with the transition comes a change in my color palette.  Presently we are enjoying this painting in our living room, but if you desire to change it's location to your own...it is available and created to "share the artistic wealth".

Aeriform, Contemporary Abstract Painting by Missouri Artist Elizabeth Chapman

'Aeriform'
Mini Abstract
8" x 8" x 3/4"

Available

Labor Day seems to make the transition between Summer and Fall official.  These transitions between seasons often change my color palette.  It's not to say that I won't paint a colorful, colorful abstract in the middle of winter.  But, as we begin the seasonal transitions there is a sense for a  color change that can be seen in my paintings.  This "mini abstract" with it's bright palette is my way of saying good-bye to summer and would make a wonderful addition to a special space with some dazzling eye candy!
