My studio has been emptied out and all of my babies are gone.... Friday I took fourteen NEW pieces that will be featured in the December show along with what was previously there.  I am so very thankful to be working with Hawthorn Galleries here in my hometown of Springfield, Missouri. .... and so this week I thought I would do a daily feature    of these new works.  These are high quality contemporary fine art abstracts that can be purchased at a VERY reasonable, affordable price. Opening night will be this Friday Night (Dec. 2nd).  If interested in any of these pieces, the person to contact is Kylee who is absolutely wonderful to work with and would be happy to help you with the purchasing/shipping.  Kylee may be contacted by clicking here.  So.... once again... it's the empty nest!  ... and time to start painting a new body of work!! ....pressing on!

AND grandpa/baby are adapting to each other just fine!  Thank you each for visiting and I hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving!

"Four Generations"

We have been quite busy lately with baby Penelope!..... and so I don't have a new painting to post.  Fiesta is a previously posted painting that will be in the December show at Hawthorn's Gallery.  I don't know that the photograph totally does it justice though, as it is difficult to photograph red(s).   A fiesta is what we had yesterday, as we celebrated our oldest daughter, Elsie's birthday.  A great time with family and Penelope's baby pictures were taken.  She is sooooo cute! Baby picture can be seen on November 22nd posting of A Beautiful Mess.   ...... and I did begin a new painting last night!!!

Happy Birthday Elsie!

I just got on this morning to check my oldest daughter's blog "A Beautiful Mess" and her boyfriend had posted this.. cutest photo ever.... for her birthday today.  It so touched my heart.  This was her first camera!! I had no idea that photography would later on become such a big part of her life.  She always loved having her picture taken.... and from this photo... also loved taking pictures.  You can read Jeremy's surprise entry on A Beautiful Mess by clicking here.
Happy Birthday, Elsie
Love you so very much,

'Lime Star' Contemporary Floral Painting by Elizabeth Chapman

Acrylic on 8" x 10" canvas

"Lime Star"

Sold

Yes, it's been a few weeks and I am still painting the florals.  You might say when I get on a track I tend to stay with it until I feel it's time for a change, again.  This is actually the third of this series.  The first two painted in watercolors both sold.  It was the lime green against the fushia pinks that first attracted me and continues to draw me to painting this flower.

My small one room studio is presently packed with the large paintings that will be going to Hawthorn Gallery in just a few weeks in preparation for the December show.  I think this is why I just haven't been feeling like working with the larger size canvases lately. (having to be careful to not sling paint around tends to take something away from it)  But... I'm thinking and looking forward to them again.

'Exquisite' Modern Contemporary Floral Abstract Painting by Elizabeth Chapman

Acrylic on !8" x 24" canvas
$35.00

This painting was abstracted from another realistic watercolor painting recently completed.  I believe this one captures more of the movement, feeling or life of the flowers.  This one is presently on ebay, so if your interested.... enjoy!

'Fair Lady' Modern Contemporary Floral Abstract by Elizabeth Chapman

To purchase click here

Lately, I've been obsessed with painting these floral abstracts.  Most of them have been on these small 8" x 10" canvases.  It began as a test panel for one..... and has grown.. to... well several.  In the beginning stage they are inspired from floral photographs that I have taken in the past which I had used when I was painting the realistic florals.  The initial value study is soon over taken by color.  Black gestural lines are used in the end to capture the essence of the flower.  Lots of movement, color and texture!  I feel as if the ideas I am getting for just one photo are endless.  ..... and hey there is a whole stack of these photos!  So...  I'm off to find today's inspiration.

Sorry about the confusion and so to answer and clarify Sheila's question from the previous post-  the baby that we are expecting as our first grandchild is Sarah and Doren's.  Doren is  the youngest of our three children, (the boy, no blog )  Elsie is our oldest daughter, whom many of you know as, A Beautiful Mess  and our middle child is Emma, From Scratch, an aspiring actress who lives in L.A.  And so.... Doren and Sarah have currently made the basement of our house their home as they are currently working and in college.  It is a blessing to us to be able to share our home and help them during this most precious time of beginnings.  Every day is another day of waiting.... your.thoughts, prayers, etc..  are very much appreciated.

Today's painting is a mystery.....I have been having such a great time painting, producing and being in the creative flow lately.  .... and can't wait to share them all!!  This one was actually inspired from a photograph I had taken at an orchid show I had gone to with my husband.  Anyway.... that was the original inspiration and from there it just...... well you be the judge!

Presently, we are awaiting and anticipating the birth of our FIRST grandchild.... any day!!

I want them to have complete confidence that they understand God's mysterious plan, which is Christ himself.  Colossians 2:2

Yes, another floral!  Just been having a great time with these.   I feel as if I have come full circle with the florals.  As I was seriously beginning as a painter, I began with florals in a VERY MUCH more realistic style with watercolors, (many of these can be seen in my first blog entries) then later departing into the abstract realm. These have been bringing together many of the various areas I have been working in, into what I would call a  modern contemporary abstract floral.  This is an acrylic palette knife painting on an 8"x 10" (3/4") canvas and is priced at $45.00.  It can be purchased through pay pal by clicking, then scrolling down on  the elizabethchapmangallery.
